Open-toe stockings.

Stockings without toes - what they are, why the seam runs down the front, and how to wear them.

01

What are open-toe stockings?

Open-toe stockings are sheer stockings made without the closed toe. The leg and most of the foot stay covered - the toes stay bare. You will also see them called open-toe tights or open-toe pantyhose.

They exist for one reason: the look of hosiery with the freedom of an open shoe. Nothing presses on the nails, nothing bunches at the tip of a sandal, and a pedicure stays visible.

02

Why does the seam run down the front?

Classic seamed stockings carry the seam at the back - a 1940s code. CÉLVE moves it to the front: a single centre seam running down the shin, paired with a visible tag. Two signatures, hard to mistake for anything else.

A front seam is a line you are meant to see. It turns the stocking from an undergarment into the detail people notice first.

03

Open-toe vs footless - what is the difference?

Two names, not the same thing. Footless tights end at the ankle - the whole foot is bare. Open-toe stockings cover the foot and free only the toes.

If you want hosiery that works inside a sandal, open-toe is the one.

04

Why are open-toe stockings so hard to find?

The style circulates on Pinterest and in street-style photos, but buying it has been another story. For years the easiest sources were pre-order sellers shipping from Russia - long waits, no returns, little sizing help. Western hosiery brands rarely make a true open-toe stocking.

That gap is why CÉLVE exists: open-toe stockings with a front centre seam, designed and made in Poland, est. 2026.

05

How do you wear open-toe stockings?

Anywhere a closed toe would fight the shoe: sandals, mules, slingbacks, open-toe heels. The stocking gives the leg a finished, sheer line; the open end leaves the toes on show.

No toe seam also means no pressure at the tip - a small comfort you notice by the end of the evening.
